Irish Atheist

An open-exchange base for Irish Dissenters. Hopefully, a platform enabling Ireland's non-believers to make contact, exchanging opinions and experiences, at least until I become aware of a more competent platform.

Born in Summerhill, a centre-city slum. Now 63, I remember the '60s as a time of economic relaxation in Ireland, with greater freedom of expression being taken for granted. Of course, abortion and euthanasia were still very much taboo subjects, but merely hurdles which would be jumped eventually. The '70s would be Socialist! How wrong we were back then.

Patriot's Saturday

As Ireland is renowned for it's Catholic-majority-culture, it may be interesting to observe it's response over the next few weeks to the criminal behaviour of approximately 300 "republican" thugs!
There should be no shortage of video footage to enable Gardai to round-up almost all (and imprison) of the blatantly Catholic Nationalist terrorists
who deliberately descended on the city-centre for the sole purpose of demonstrating their opposition to constitutional, democratic, government.
Unlike suicide-bombers, this lot mainly conceal their identities to avoid any risk of paying for the consequences of their criminal behaviour, not such a brave lot - our modern Irish Catholic patriots - who would degrade the memory of those who died in 1916!
Will Bertie-All-Hallows stand firmly behind his Minister for Justice?
Bertie has been ruling Fianna Fail with an iron glove lately, taking the front-line very much, who is he trying to emulate, Benito Mussolini with an upgraded spin?
Maybe he will sling this crowd of thugs into the future force of Police Reservists, as a penalty of course!
I am personally convinced that those of the "majority-culture" will remain silent, like the mindless sheep of previous generations, and wonder how anybody could reasonably think that any of the old culture is worth preserving? Eventually, maybe most of them will simply die of shame?
